A decade ago, a 40-year-old patient showing up in the emergency room with a heart attack was considered a rarity with doctors pondering over the hows and whys. A decade later, the number of heart attack patients between 30 and 35 years of age has gone up so much that heart attacks among the young are no longer an exception.

Today’s society unfortunately is replete with vices like diabetes, obesity, and unhealthy lifestyle, especially among the youth, and is identified as the major triggers of heart attacks other than ‘genes’. Knowledge of Basic Life Support, therefore, is paramount as it can save a life in distress.

Recognizing BLS's pivotal role in today’s society, IPS COLLEGE JAIPUR organized a Basic Life Support Skills Workshop in association with WHC Amar Jain Hospital, Jaipur.

This workshop covered the basic steps in administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support measures (BLS) to adults, children, and infants. The visiting Medical Specialists explained various first-aid maneuvers, the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and how to open patients' airways. The program was a simulation-based exercise using CPR manikins which gave a hands-on experience to the students and enhanced their ability to save lives in a crisis.

The workshop also facilitated the checking of hemoglobin levels for all the female students and lady staff members of the College.
