We all know that we face big challenges in today’s world: poverty, hunger, inequality, and climate change are just some of the issues we need to address urgently. Big challenges need bold action to overcome them, and that is where the Global Goals come in. They are a plan agreed upon by all world leaders to build a greener, fairer, better world by 2030, and we all have a role in achieving them.

International Youth Organization AIESEC, organized WESTO Rajasthan on 11th and 12th June 2022 in Jaipur to create awareness among the youth regarding the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. In 2015, the United Nations created these Sustainable Development Goals to end poverty, ensure prosperity, and protect the planet.

Delivering his address, the Chief Guest of the occasion, Prof. Sudhir Agarwal stated that rapid development is inexorable when the popular desire for change is combined with political resolve and sound policy decisions. However, our mission is difficult. The advantages of globalization and prosperity have failed to reach millions upon millions of impoverished people, adding to their misery. Biodiversity is rapidly dwindling. The amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is at an all-time high. We need a road that promotes universal health, revitalizes economies, integrates individuals from the fringes of society, and fosters long-term resilience, sustainability, opportunity, and peace. He stated that the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is intended to address the world's current vulnerabilities and limitations.

He also stressed how important it is to be here at WESTO Rajasthan, meeting with the young, as they are the most effective promoters of the 17 Sustainable Goals for a sustainable future. Prof. Agarwal expressed his thoughts on the need for shared values and policies as a foundation for long-term growth and peace. In summarizing his remarks, he emphasized that as a global community, we are confronted with a variety of global challenges. These tests boil down to the basic problem of making informed decisions now and tomorrow that will put people and the earth on a path to a better future.

He said that Governments and stakeholders aren't the only ones who care about the 17 Sustainable Goals. It's a question of personal preference. It may appear that one individual, or even their family or community, is insufficient to make a difference. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. The contributions of everyone generate hope. Prof. Agarwal concluded his thoughts by saying that the 2030 Agenda is the key to unlocking that hope and opportunity for all of us. We can tell the people and children of the globe that the 2030 Agenda is not merely a new pact among states, but a serious pledge to its people, if we work together.

WESTO Rajasthan saw a congregation of a huge number of individuals, academicians, social thinkers, professionals, institutions, and corporate houses. The event was partnered by Arch College, it had VGU and Poornima University as Youth Partners, Eternal Hospital as its Healthcare Partner, and MUJ and Jaipur Social being its out-reach partners. WESTO Rajasthan also witnessed KIRAAS, Ek Rag, Do Kalakar, NJAC, Diva, and Ramjilal Prajapat in its list of sponsors.
